Hola amigos!
Time´s going fast! I´ll be coming back to Holland in three weeks :S
Major reason for coming home: My sister (who is not suppost to marry) is getting married on the 16th of February!!! What a party that´ll be, and I´m definately going to be there to witness it!
Since Peru, Chile has been quite a culture shock: it´s almost like Europe! So organized, and so expensive... I spend Christmas in Santiago with a big home made stuffed turkey, thanks to the Irish Daniel, what a great evening we had! Unfortunately, the next day wasn´t so great for me: I thought I was safe in Chile, but I had the worst stomach ache ever! I had to lie in my bed for the entire day! At the end of the day I had to pull myself to gether to catch the night bus to Villarrica, 12 hours South of Santiago.

Villarrica was like coming back to Europe: green grass, lots of trees, lakes; the first thing I did was rent a bike and cycle for 4 hours, what a great experience after not touching a bike for 3 months!
Next day weather turned bad, so I thought I might as well get on a bus and try to cross borders through the not so traveled roads. That got me, after a full day of bus transfers, getting stuck in a small town called Puerto Fuy, with no busses nor ferries
going further that day. It was a beautiful little town to get stuck in though! Next morning I took the first ferry to the other end of the lake Pirihueico. Getting off the ferry after 2 hours I had a pleasant surprise: no busses nor taxies, nor anything was heading towards the border... so I started walking with my too much luggage, arriving at the Chilean border 3 hours later (thank God the weather cleared up that day!). From there, the guards told me it was another 8 km to the Argentinean border... Luckily they felt pity for me, so they gave me a ride on there motorbikes ;) 5km past the Argentinean border I was lucky
to get a ride to my destination 60 km further, San Martin de los Andes.

On the last day of the year 2006 I hurried on to Bariloche to celebrate New Year with a Lamb BBQ, the way only Argentinians can make it.
Bariloche is a great place to go hiking all round, so I climbed the Tronador glacier with 2 Israelian friens, Noa and Nadav. What a suburb hike that
was! 5 hours of climbing straight up, with the last part tugging through the snow, but what a view you had! We spe
nd the night at the refugio Otto Meile, returning the ne
xt day. Unfortunately after celebrating our return at night, I got a really bad sore throat the next
morning... (still having troubles with recouperating from it) And while spending a few days in backpackers paradise El Bolson, I couldn´t really do much.
On the happy event of my birthday, still struggling with the cold, I took a nice relaxing boat and bus ride to cross the border back to Chile, all the way to Puerto Varas. Another
scenic environment with a lot of German influences. A pleasant outing to Isla Grande
de Chiloe made me undergo a lot of long busrides. But the islands with all there pastures and trees, looking over the sea growing salmon in it, and the real tranquil town with the best seafood restaurants one can think of, made it all worthwhile.
No I´m mentally preparing for the busride of the next three days... I´m taking the bus from Puerto Montt to Punta Arenas, no more than 28 hours trapped in the bus, before transferring to the bus to the end of the world, Ushuaia, another 13 hours... What a human would do to get to the end of it!...
Greetz!

Gave verhalen allemaal, krijg bijna zelf de neiging om er eens op uit te trekken (behalve dan als je over die enorm lange busreizen verteld). Ben benieuwd naar de foto's. Nog een goede reis!
